My family has run a raki still outside Chania for four generations, and I spend my winters helping with the distilling. The harbour tavernas are for photographs; the good food is two streets back, where the locals actually eat.
What I offer
A walk along the old Venetian harbour with the real history behind it, then dinner at tavernas away from the water where the fish is fresher and the raki is poured generously.
